Over 170 Years. One Living Tradition.
Britain's Last Licensed Hackney Carriage Trade
Exceptional Visits | Events | British Hospitality
We no longer offer stand-alone taxi rides. Instead, we invite guests into a living Windsor tradition.
For generations, our trade has been shaped by coachmen, horses and craftspeople. Today, Britain’s last surviving licensed horse-drawn Hackney Carriage tradition becomes one special chapter within a thoughtfully hosted, exquisite Windsor visit or exceptional event.
We work with private families, travel advisors, concierges, companies and event planners, drawing upon generations of local knowledge and trusted relationships to bring together historic carriage travel, expert guiding and the very best of Windsor hospitality.
There is no fixed route or set itinerary. Each visit is individually planned around you, allowing us to work with the natural rhythm of a working Royal town and Estate, adapting to the seasons, weather and ceremonial activity while protecting the craft, the tradition, your experience and, above all, the comfort of our horses.
Your time in the carriage may be one chapter. The Windsor story we create around it is much greater.
"Without question, the highlight of our entire UK and Europe vacation.”
How We Share Our Traditions
Every hosted visit is different. These are just some of the ways guests experience Britain's last surviving licensed horse-drawn Hackney Carriage trade today.

How has a Victorian taxi
survived into the 21st century?
A LICENSE PASSED FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION
1800’s
We were Windsor's taxis.
Before the motorcar arrived.
1900’s
Every generation chose to continue and adapt.
The trade endured.
TODAY
Still licensed. Still in trade.
Preserved as part of thoughtful visits & events.

The Tradition Continues Today

Our horses are not here for entertainment. They are working horses, at the heart of a living British trade, and we believe their role should be understood and respected.
Guests have time to meet them, learn about their work and experience the tradition they represent at a gentler pace.
It is a way of working that puts the horses first — as it should.

Our Stories
Our knowledge does not begin in a guidebook. It has been inherited through generations of working with horses and carriages in Windsor, stories, customs and memories passed from one coachman and family to the next.
Today, we have the privilege of sharing them with you.

Our Windsor
Windsor has never been simply a backdrop to our trade. It is part of its story.
Longstanding local relationships allow us to thoughtfully bring the wider visit together — from Castle tickets and expert guides to chauffeurs, lunch reservations, the Estate and the river.
Often, it is the introductions that make a day memorable: the people, places and stories you won’t necessarily find in the guidebooks, shared by those who know Windsor as home.
Our Horses
Hello, I'm Rebecca, Your Windsor Host
Hello, I'm Rebecca, your Windsor host.
My family has been part of Windsor's carriage trade for generations, and today it is my privilege to help continue that tradition and share it with our guests.
In this short film, I explain a little about who we are, how our historic Hackney Carriage trade has evolved and what it means to experience Windsor with us today.
If you would like to understand a little more about our history and the way we work today, I've shared some of our story below.
Understanding Windsor Carriages
Our trade has served Windsor for generations. These three short stories explain how we got here, what we offer today and why the horses continue to shape the way we work.

Private Windsor visits, Royal Ascot arrivals, celebrations and events with the horse and carriage still at their heart.
Bringing Horses & Carriages To Britain?
For decades, we have welcomed and supported visiting horses, drivers and carriage owners coming to Windsor for Royal Ascot, Royal Windsor Horse Show and private Estate visits.
Our local knowledge extends far beyond the carriage seat. From international horse travel and stabling to permissions, access, routes, staffing and carriage arrangements, we understand the practicalities behind bringing a turnout to Windsor.
Whether arriving with your own horses and carriage or requiring us to provide them, we can help make the arrangements on the ground.
