Winter in Windsor by Carriage
One carriage. One private visit.
A rather different way to see Windsor
Our horse and carriage do not wait in Windsor for passing trade. For each booking, the horses, carriage and professional team are brought into Windsor specifically for you. Your chauffeur, private guide, host and Estate hospitality are arranged around your visit, together with the permissions and operational planning required for the day. We do this once each day and a handful of times each month. The result is not simply time in a carriage, but a beautifully orchestrated private visit to Royal Windsor, with the carriage at its heart.
Christmas in Windsor
Christmas is our favourite time of year. Windsor becomes quieter. The winter landscape changes. The Castle dresses for Christmas and the estate takes on an atmosphere that belongs entirely to the season. This is when we bring together some of the things we love most about Windsor. Think warm blankets tucked around you. Mulled wine served in your enclosed carriage. Horses moving through a winter landscape that, for a little while, can feel entirely your own.
Our carriages are dressed in traditional festive style, bringing colour and a little theatre to the countryside around you.
Inside, you are warm and dry. Outside, Windsor unfolds. From the Castle's Christmas decorations to afternoon tea beside a roaring fire, the day is shaped around warmth, hospitality and the pleasure of having nowhere else you need to be.
We bring Windsor together around you, the carriage, the places, the people, the food and the small details that make a winter day feel wonderfully special. Christmas in Windsor, as we love to share it.

An example visit
Your day may begin with a private chauffeur collection from London, bringing you directly to the Windsor Estate.
Here, your guide brings the landscape to life through its Royal stories, horses, wildlife and traditions, while your host takes care of you along the way with seasonal Estate hospitality. There is time to pause. To walk. To take photographs. To warm up with something mulled. To follow a story because it has caught your interest.
Think lunch beside a roaring fire, before continuing towards Windsor Castle. Your Castle visit, guide, carriage, chauffeur and hospitality are all coordinated around one another, so the day feels considered rather than scheduled. Nothing is rushed. Nothing feels pieced together.
We take care of the practicalities in the background, allowing you to experience Windsor as one continuous day rather than a series of separate bookings.
And because every visit is private, the details can be shaped around you, the season and what will make the day feel most special.

Not a recreation. A surviving trade.
Windsor Carriages remains part of Windsor's licensed Hackney carriage trade. The motorcar replaced the horse-drawn Hackney carriage almost everywhere. In Windsor, this one survived.
Today the trade continues through a professionally licensed horse-drawn carriage service, with the permissions, insurance and operating requirements necessary to work within modern Windsor and the Estate.
Guests aren't watching a demonstration of something that once happened here. They are stepping into something that still does.

Your winter visit to Windsor
Our private carriage visits are arranged in advance and shaped around your party and the working rhythms of Windsor and the Estate.
For those wishing to make the carriage part of a wider Windsor day, our visits and events partner Treadgold Brock can assist with private guiding, dining, Castle visits, chauffeurs and the wider arrangements around your time in Windsor.
