Windsor Great Park Carriage Tours – Exclusive Private Estate Experiences

Where Can Windsor Carriages Travel?

Licensed Within The Royal Borough Since 1849, By Kind Permission From The Crown Estate

With over 5,000 acres of Royal Estate land, our carriages can travel up to 10 miles into the park, reaching destinations such as:

  • Ascot – Home to the world-famous Ascot Racecourse, luxury 5-star hotels, and traditional English pubs nestled in ancient woodland.

  • Egham – The historic site of the Magna Carta, the Air Force Memorial, and a gateway to Runnymede.

  • Old Windsor & Datchet – Picturesque riverside villages, offering charming venues and scenic landscapes.

  • Virginia Water – Home to the spectacular lake and cascades, as well as Wentworth Golf Club, one of the world’s most prestigious golf courses.

The Long Walk is the heart of Windsor Great Park and the main feature of our carriage experiences—whether you choose to travel from Windsor Castle into the estate along The Long Walk or remain within the park with vistas of The Long Walk and Windsor Castle for an exclusive, private journey away from the bustle of town. For those seeking a truly immersive experience, allowing up to 2 hours, we seamlessly combine both, offering the best of both worlds: the historic grandeur of The Long Walk and the untouched beauty of Windsor Great Park’s ancient woodlands, polo lawns, and hidden villages. The Long Walk remains Windsor’s most famous estate attraction, but with its deep history, surrounding landscapes, and the personal stories from our expert guides—who have lived, worked, or grown up on this royal estate—there is so much more to discover.

The Windsor Estate

Unlike public vehicles, our access extends far beyond Windsor town, allowing guests to explore over 5,000 acres of private royal estate. Whether you're following in the footsteps of royalty on the historic paths between Windsor and Ascot, journeying past sites of medieval forests, private lakes, and equestrian heritage, or heading to one of the estate’s five-star hotels or countryside pubs, every route is tailored to your interests.

The Royal Estate itself remains off-grid, with no public motor vehicle access. We are proud to hold the exclusive privilege of commercial carriage access to The Long Walk—a distinction that remains from the original horse-drawn Hackney Carriage license, from the Victorian era, which was never transferred to motor vehicles. This magnificent, tree-lined avenue leads directly from Windsor Castle into Windsor Great Park, offering breathtaking views and unrivalled photo opportunities.

Seamless Travel Beyond the Estate

Where our carriages cannot travel, we arrange private car transfers to seamlessly connect you to:

  • London – Effortless transfers to and from the capital.

  • Bray – A culinary destination featuring Michelin-starred restaurants, including The Fat Duck.

  • Cliveden House & The Four Seasons Hampshire – Two of the UK’s most prestigious luxury countryside hotels.

What Do Our Guests Say?

"Our day in Windsor was a fairytale! From the moment the car picked us up in London, everything went smoothly and was enjoyable. We toured the castle, and then Rebecca met us to walk/guide us to the pub I had chosen for lunch…and even took the time to walk me past my old childhood home that I had mentioned to her in our planning call! She knew where all the best pubs/restaurants were….which shops I would enjoy, and told wonderful stories and facts about various buildings/landmarks we passed. Then we took the carriage into Windsor Great Park and enjoyed sparkling wine while viewing the red stag and enjoying the views of the castle. !"
