How do I book a carriage?

On line here on this website for our scheduled trips. If you cannot find the date you would like please sign up to our newsletter, on the contact page, to be the first to know when new dates and times are added.

Alternatively to book a bespoke trip or make an enquiry for your wedding or engagement, please view our options and pricing on the relevant page and complete the form to receive further information and a quote.

Can I book two carriages at the same time?

No, we only operate one carriage at a time. If for example you would like a carriage for 12 people, you would need to book two carriage trips, one after the other. If you can't find two trips to suit online, send us an email and we can look at the day in question and see if we can add further times.

Is the carriage suitable for all ages and abilities? 

Yes. We have guests from 3 weeks old to 103 years old. The wagonette 6 seater carriage used on our scheduled book on line trips has two wide and low steps with hand rails . The step is 30cm from the ground. Children under 3 tend to fall asleep to the rhythm of the carriage.  We are unable to store wheelchairs or mobility scooters on the carriage but we can arrange storage of these and collection of guests from the centre of town. Please call or email before you book and we can arrange.

Does the ‘driver’ point out anything during the ride? Do we get a photo?

Yes, a groom accompanies the trip and will point our interesting places along the route. Your groom will happily chat away for as much as or a-little as you wish. A photo is also taken and emailed to you after your trip.  

Can I change my booking time?

Please contact us via the email on your booking confirmation email as soon as possible should you wish to change your booking.

Can I bring my dog? 

Yes. Dogs are welcome. The carriage is cleaned thoroughly between each trip and we can provide water, please just ask.

For guests with allergies to dogs, we remind you that the carriage is cleaned thoroughly between each trip. 

Do we have to wear a mask? 

No. You do not have to wear a mask, we have a screen in the wagonette 6 seater which we predominantly use on The Long Walk, with the carriage thoroughly cleaned between each trip and hand sanitiser on the carriage. You can read more here.

What are your Covid precautions?

Do we share the carriage with others? 

No. You do not share with others. Pricing is per carriage, exclusive for yourselves. The price per carriage is based on 4 adults in most cases but we can take up to 6 adults with small children on laps or you can book for one. The price remains the same.

Individual tickets are available at select dates through out the year through third parties such as https://windsorfestival.com These are currently suspended due to government guidelines. 

Do you operate all year round? What about at night? 

Please contact us via email for weddings and bespoke carriage hire which start at £450 for exclusive hire. View bespoke page here.

We do not work at night, we operate in daylight hours and we can provide carriages between the following times.  

April to Sept 09.00 to 18.00

October to March  09.00 to 14.00

Where can I park to access The Long Walk and meet the carriage? 

You meet the carriage on The Long Walk within The Great Park. The address is Park Street, Windsor, SL4 1LB. 

The nearest landmark is The Two Brewers Pub. There is no parking at Windsor Castle or on The Long Walk.

You will see the carriage and in the event the Long Walk is very busy we ask you to walk down the slope and meet the carriage where the footpath meets the Long Walk. We will call you if this is required.

Where can I park to access Bishopsgate and meet the carriage?

You can meet the carriage inside Bishopsgate within The Great Park. The address is Bishopsgate Rd, Englefield Green, Egham TW20 0XU . The nearest landmark is The Fox and Hounds restaurant. Parking is very limited on the roadside so please arrive early or contact us to arrange a private car to collect you from your hotel or alternate parking at Savill Gardens TW20 0UJ.

We can also arrange departures from our private stable yard located just 1 mile from Bishopsgate.

What if the weather is poor?

Please assume your tour will go ahead unless we contact you. As of March 2021 all our carriages are covered so you will stay dry. Please see booking terms and conditions for further information on cancellations. 

Are there any dates you do not operate?

When there are events on The Long Walk such as The Windsor Marathon we are unable to operate Long Walk trips.

Long Walk Closed: September 25th and 26th 2021

July 29th - August 2nd Booked for a private event.

Where the Long Walk is closed, we are able to operate trips in other areas of the Park. We usually know these dates in advance however there are occasions when the Great Park have to shut an area of the park for safety and in these unforeseen events we do our best to offer an alternate trip in an area we are able to work in or a refund is provided. This is not a regular event has occurred four times in the past 2 years such as during the mourning period for the late Duke of Edinburgh, HRH Prince Phillip and during high winds when the Park was closed.

This is not the same address as the stables. The stables are in a different location.

Why is there a booking fee?

There is a cost to providing online availability and online booking and these costs are added to your booking at point of check out.

The Long Walk is a short 3 minute walk from the visitors entrance to The Castle. Nearest post code SL4 1LB.
