How do I book a carriage?

On line here on this website for our scheduled trips where available. If you cannot find the date you would like please sign up to our newsletter, on the contact page, to be the first to know when new dates and times are added.  For safety we do not operate in busy times or during major events. We will be unable to operate carriages May 12th to 15th and June 1st to 7th 2022.

Can I book two carriages at the same time?

No, we only operate one carriage at a time. If for example you would like a carriage for 12 people, you would need to book two carriage trips, one after the other. If you can't find two trips to suit online, send us an email and we can look at the day in question and see if we can add further times.

Is the carriage suitable for all ages and abilities?

Yes. Over the last 70 years in mine and my fathers memory we have had guests from 3 weeks old to 103 years old. All carriages have wide and low steps with hand rails and your groom will assist you should you require it. The step is 30cm from the ground. We recommend asking yours guests if they can weight bear on one leg while lifting the other 30cm from the ground. If they are able to do this, they will be able to access the carriage. Children under 3 tend to fall asleep to the rhythm of the carriage, a bonus to your tour or they will be mesmerised by the swishing of the horses tails a few feet away.  We are unable to store wheelchairs or mobility scooters on the carriage but we can arrange storage of these and collection of guests from the centre of town. Please call or email before you book and we can arrange.

Does the ‘driver’ point out anything during the ride? Do we get a photo?

Can we meet the horses?

Yes, a groom accompanies the trip and will point our interesting places along the route. Your groom will happily chat away for as much as or a-little as you wish. A photo is also taken as a memory of your trip with us. You will be introduced to the horses on your arrival and can spend as little or as much time meeting and learning about them as you wish, all within your tour time.

Should I book a 6 seater if my family of 6 includes two children under 3?

No. Children on laps are free and not charged as additional seated occupants. Please contact us before booking if you have children under 12 and we can check the carriage operating that day. If it is a 6 seater there will be no charge for the additional two children under 12 in addition to four adults. This is difficult to translate to our booking system and so a separate email would be great. We aim to not charge for children as a rule as this experience is important to share with the next generation.

Can I bring my dog?

As of Sept 2020 we no longer take dogs in the carriage except assistance dog.

What are your Covid precautions?

Please find them here.

Do we share the carriage with others?

No. You do not share with others. Pricing is per carriage, exclusive for yourselves.

Where do I meet the carriage?

Please check your booking confirmation for where to meet the carriage.
